Padel continues to grow in the Netherlands
It is impossible to imagine the Dutch sports landscape without padel. New figures from the research report Padel in figures 2025 by the KNLTB and EY show that the sport is developing rapidly, and you will notice this during CUPRA Rotterdam Premier Padel in Rotterdam Ahoy.
The growth of padel is unprecedented. In 2025 as many as 876,000 Dutch people were on the court at least once. Even more impressive: 424,000 people play padel every month.
What these numbers show above all: padel has become one of the fastest growing and most accessible sports in the Netherlands.
To meet this growth, the infrastructure also continues to develop. The Netherlands now has 3,523 padel courts spread across 780 locations . In fact, since 2021, the number of courts has more than tripled.
The sporting side is also growing rapidly. The number of competitive players increased 21% to over 91,000 players and by 2025 more than 1,000 official padel tournaments were organized . Padel is thus not only popular to play, but also to follow.
Also notable is the growth among younger players. The number of youth players shows a strong increase, even doubling among the youngest categories . This underlines the enormous future potential of the sport.
In addition, Dutch players are increasingly breaking through at the international level and the number of international tournaments in their own country is growing. Rotterdam plays an important role in this.
All these developments come together during CUPRA Rotterdam Premier Padel. Here you will not only see the world's top padel players in action, but you will also experience why padel has become so popular. With full stands, spectacular rallies and a unique atmosphere, the tournament is the place where the growth of the sport becomes tangible.
