Large increase in visitor numbers
The second edition of Decathlon Premier Padel Rotterdam attracted 39,758 visitors to Rotterdam Ahoy. The first edition in 2024 managed to captivate 36,000 spectators. As many as 8,000 fans attended the final day. The P1 tournament was won in the women by Delfina Brea from Spain and her Argentinian partner Gemma Triay and in the men by Spaniard Arturo Coello and Argentinian Agustin Tapia. The Top 50 in the world were represented at the P1 tournament.
Tournament Director John van Lottum looks back on a successful edition: "When the 'game, set & match' was pronounced today after the last point, it was music to our ears. Not because we are happy that it is over, but because we are extremely proud of what we have put up. We witnessed a week of padel of the very highest level and created the conditions for the players and audience to perform and enjoy to the fullest. It is also great to hear from the players that they are already eager to return to our tournament. That is perhaps the biggest compliment."
Fatima Moreira de Melo, with Rafael van der Vaart ambassador of the tournament: "The positive feeling I had after the first edition has been surpassed in every possible way. I really walked around here for a week with a big smile, not only because of the matches, but also because of the great program around it. You can tell in every possible way that padel is growing, not only by the number of visitors but also because a lot of people were in action on the courts themselves last week."
Rafael van der Vaart: "Decathlon Premier Padel has already grown into a full-fledged tournament at its second edition. It was wonderful to see both players and spectators enjoying the whole week here. I did the same and of course it is a privilege to just be on the court for a few hours every day with visitors and partners during your work."
