Three-year partnership between sports brand and largest padel tournament in the Netherlands

Ouderkerk aan de Amstel, May 30, 2024 - Decathlon and Premier Padel Rotterdam have agreed on a partnership that commits the sports brand 3 years as a namesake to the biggest padel tournament on the Dutch calendar. Decathlon Premier Padel Rotterdam will take place in Rotterdam Ahoy from September 8 to 15, 2024.

Ready to Play

According to Decathlon Netherlands CEO Lisa Noraz, the partnership fits perfectly with the sports brand's vision and strategy: "The success of the World Padel Tour in 2023 was amazing! The growth of the sport of padel is still huge, looking at both player numbers and fans and spectators on TV. We are therefore proud to commit to Premier Padel Rotterdam as title sponsor. "Ready to Play" is Decathlon's new global slogan, introduced in March this year. With it, Decathlon wants to inspire and motivate everyone to join its goal: "move people through the wonders of sport." At Premier Padel Rotterdam, top sport and recreational sport come together in Rotterdam Ahoy. This fits well with the vision and products of Decathlon.

At Decathlon you will find a wide and qualitative range of padel products from their own padel brand Kuikma, for both elite athletes and recreational players. These products are designed, developed and tested in Madrid, the cradle of padel. This is done in collaboration with Horacio Álvarez Clementi, the Argentine coach and former world number one. During the Premier Padel tournaments, professional players Maxi Sánchez, Lucía Sainz and Iván Ramírez will play with Kuikma.

Premier Padel: the global padel tour

Premier Padel is known for offering world-class sport, with the P1 tournament in Rotterdam Ahoy as the absolute highlight. During the tournament from September 9 to 15, 2024, the world's top 48 women's and men's players will compete for the coveted title.

The Premier Padel tour 2024 includes four Major tournaments Doha, Rome, Paris and Mexico), similar to the Grand Slam events in tennis, and also offers tournaments in P1 and P2 categories, as well as Tour Finals as a season finale. P1 is the second-highest ranked Premier Padel tournament after Major; P2 follows next. The difference between the tournaments is mainly in the number of ranking points to be earned and the prize money.

The P1 tournament in Rotterdam promises to be an unparalleled experience, with the grandeur of the event and the presence of the best players in the world. The merger of Premier Padel and WPT at the beginning of this year has resulted in a single worldwide professional padel tour, overseen by the International Padel Federation FIP.

DECATHLON PREMIER PADEL TOURNAMENT

Starting May 18, the Premier of the Court will take place every month: a padel club tournament in all cities with a Peakz Padel facility. The winning pairs of the Premier of the Court tournaments will receive tickets for the Decathlon Premier Padel Rotterdam tournament and also have a chance to win one of the 34 participation tickets.
